About the project
The project involved a complete migration of an existing WordPress website from domkofe.ge to the new domain dimkava.ge. The key requirement was to move the site without losing SEO value, analytics continuity or website functionality, while ensuring that users and search engines were correctly redirected to the new domain.
What I worked on
I created full backups of the website files and database using both plugin-based and manual methods before starting the migration. I then configured the new domain environment, updated DNS records at the registrar, prepared the correct root directories in cPanel and transferred the website to the new location.
After the move, I updated the WordPress site URLs and configured permanent 301 redirects using both the Redirection plugin and .htaccess. The redirect structure was checked to ensure that old URLs correctly resolved to the new domain without unnecessary redirect chains or broken pages.
The new domain was added to Google Search Console, and the sitemap was verified after migration. I also reviewed robots.txt, sitemap.xml, canonical URLs and redirect behaviour to make sure search engines could correctly crawl and index the new domain.
The final stage included a full technical QA of the migrated website, including forms, navigation, product pages, menus and the mobile version. This ensured that the migration preserved both the technical operation of the site and the user experience.
Result
The WordPress website was successfully moved to dimkava.ge with the existing content, SEO structure and analytics continuity preserved. The old domain correctly redirected to the new one, Search Console and sitemap configuration were updated, and the website remained fully functional across desktop and mobile after migration.
